Sniper Central now a Night Force Dealer
Thursday, May 7th, 2009New lower price on logbooks
Friday, April 17th, 2009About a year ago we had to raise the price on the log books for the first time since its introduction about 7 years ago. Well, because of the continued popularity of the log books it has allowed us to purchase more of them at a time and we were able to get better pricing. We figured it would be best to pass that savings on to our customers! The price is now back to the original $15 and we hope to keep it there for the foreseeable future!

Server Maintenance Tonight
Monday, February 9th, 2009A Salute to all Veterans
Tuesday, November 11th, 2008“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” - John 15:13
On this Veteran’s day, I wanted to honor all those that have served around the world in an effort to preserve and grant freedoms to mankind. It is not an easy job and most of the time thankless, but I wanted to insure all those that may have had questions or doubts that you are indeed not forgotten and you are loved. Do not weaken or slow the pace, but remember there are millions of people who support you, love you, care for you, and mourn with you.
“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me…” Psalms 23:4
Here at Sniper Central we feel that there is indeed no more noble cause than that of serving to preserve and insure freedoms around the world. Every person has the right to live in peace and freedom and we support our soldiers as well as others that fight to preserve these freedoms. There is a Latin saying “si vis pacem, para bellum”, or “if you want peace, prepare for war”, or I have also heard it stated “Pray for peace, prepare for war”. While we all do pray and desire peace, we as current and former soldiers understand that we must prepare for war to insure peace and freedom more so than others, and for that reason we here at Sniper Central will always honor, remember, pray for, and support those who have served, are now serving, and those that will in the future serve, paying special homage and honor to those that have fallen preserving freedom and laying down their life for peace, freedom, their family, friends and country.
If you are veteran, stand up and be recognized! You have done well.

HSM Long Range Ammo Available
Thursday, July 17th, 2008HSM ammo has performed very well in our Ammo Comparisons and they have been very innovative and willing to try specialized long range loads, and as such, they offer some very good and unique factory long range loads like a 6.5×284 142gr match load, 7mm Rem Mag 168gr Match Load, .30-06 175gr Match, etc etc. As the sniping community continues to diversify into other calibers beyond the .308, it became apparent that it would be very nice to be able to offer all of these loadings to the community from one location. We are proud to announce that we have made arrangements to offer most all of these loadings, and some new exciting ones down the road, here at sniper central.
You can take a look at these offerings on our site here:
That page will continue to grow and develop to help streamline the ammo ordering process. There are things, like validation of age, that we must do in order to ship ammo, but we will do what we can to help with this process.
As other specialized long range ammo becomes available from HSM, and even possibly others, down the road, we will be adding them to the site. The “in stock” information should always be up to date and any size orders are available from 1 box to 1 truck load. If we do not have it in stock it usually takes a few weeks to get loaded and shipped. All the ammo is loaded to our orders insuring that all ammo of the same type on a single order will be of the same lot, this is critical for long range shooting.

HSM Facilities
We, of course, continue to sell other makes of ammo on special order so if you are looking for something, let us know.

Metric Knobs
Monday, December 3rd, 2007So, why is that metric knobs are becoming popular in the USA where the metric system has STILL not taken hold? Well, with us bringing in the falcon menace scopes with metric knobs in the sniper store I thought I would offer my thoughts about this latest trend.
The reason why it has become popular is because it now puts the adjustments in synch with the reticule so they are “speaking” in the same units. For those of you that do not know, the milradian has been in use on sniper scopes since the late 70’s, early 80’s (if not before) with the mil-dot reticule, which is a very handy way to estimate range with the milrelation formula. But, the knobs had always been, at least in the USA, in MOA or inches at 100yards, depending on the scope maker. (yes, there is a slight difference between MOA and inches at 100 yards). This all works just fine, but one would have to estimate how far one is off in inches, convert to MOA and make the adjustments to the scope, or remember that there is 3.6 moa per mil, measure the distance in mils, multiply by 3.6, dial it into the scope, etc. Sure, all doable, but it could be a lot simpler. Like, for instance, the Europeans with the metric system. Where is so happens that 1cm is .1 mils. So, with metric knobs on a scope where 1 click equals 1 cm, you would have 1 click now equaling .1 mils. So if you needed to adjust 1.5 mils according to a measurement given you by your spotter through his spotting scope with mil-dot reticule, by golly, dial in 15 clicks (1.5 mils) on your dials and engage. It is a nice way of doing things just a little bit smoother. The only down side is that you need to either start thinking in the metric system or mils, or both. The US Army has already gone to meters, but the soldiers all still think in english units. The one thing that will need to be done is either create your ballistic charts in mils, or just run with a BDC on your scope and make corrections from there based on mils.
