Sniper Central .260 Rem LR Ammo now available!

Friday, December 29th, 2006

It is finally available! I just picked up the first batch of the 260 ammo we had loaded for us! It is available at $21.30 per box. If you would like to order case quantities and you don’t mind waiting a few weeks to get the case, there is a discount available for case quantities. Check out the Sniper Store to place an order for this ammo! I know I really like the ammo and will be shooting it exclusively out of the .260 I have.

Also, it just so happens, if you have a .260 and are shooting this ammo, you might want to check out the Burris XTR 3-12×50mm with the illuminated Ballistic Mil-dot. This reticule is different from the normal Ballistic Mil-dot and is set to match the 7.62 nato from 100-700 meters. BUT, it so happens that it matches nearly perfectly the ballistics of this SC .260 load if zeroed at 200 meters. The ballistic marks match at 200 through 800 Meters! I have just picked up one of these scopes and will be mounting it on our 260 rifle and testing the numbers.

Leupold’s new line of tactical scopes

Tuesday, December 12th, 2006

Well, its that time of year when all the new year products start to filter out to the public, prior to SHOT show and catalogs being shipped.

Along those lines, it appears that Leupold is introducing a new line of entry level tactical scopes called the “Mark 2″. There is a 3-9×40mm, 4-12×40mm w/AO, and a 6-18×40mm w/AO so far. All three have 1″ tubes, the multicoat4 lens coatings & lockable fast focus eye piece. The 3-9 and 4-12 have a T2 nomenclature and 1/2 MOA adjustments. The 6-18 is known as the T2 and has 1/4 MOA adjustments. As far as I can tell, none of them have mil-dot reticules, instead some have wide duplex’s and the 4-12 is also available with the LR duplex. Pricing is a bit better than the current Mark 4 PR line.

Hopefully some more details will be forthcoming soon.

Bushnell LRF Rifle Scope

Thursday, December 7th, 2006

Bushnell has decided to join the small group of manufacturers building rifle scopes with built in laser range finders. When Bushnell releases the “Yardage Pro LRF Scope” they will be joining Swarovski, Burris and Zeiss. The Bushnell offering is a 4-12×42mm variable power scope with a mil-dot reticule. The retail price is right around $900. We’ll have to see how the quality is.
