SC Special Edition Rifles

Monday, September 24th, 2007

We are introducing a run of special edition rifles for Sniper Central. Through Tactical Operations special consulting offered to us on the metal work and bedding, we are in a position to offer a .25 MOA accuracy guarantee on these special edition rifles. These rifles will be built on new Remington 700 actions and will feature a Krieger #9 barrel. The rifles will use the McMillan Winchester Marksman stock available in the traditional McMillan colors with decelerator pads installed. This McM Winchester Marksman stock will be the only stock offered on these rifles. The rifles will be chambered in either 308 Win or 260 Rem. The accuracy will be exceptional. The rifles will also have the Tac-Ops large bolt knobs attached. The price will be $3200 for the rifle.

The first rifle is nearing completion (just waiting on the ceramic coating) and will be a one off complete collectors package. It will be the ONLY one of these rifles chambered in 300 Win Mag. In additional, this special rifle comes with a threaded barrel for a suppressor as well as a Leupold Mark 4 LR/T 4.5-14×50mm scope with illuminated mil-dot reticule mounted using Leupold Mark 4 rings and bases. The rifle has a painted green stock with black metal work and the entire package comes in a Starlight rifle case with custom cut foam. This special edition #1 rifle package is available for sale for $4500. The rifle was chambered with a reamer special to the Federal Gold Medal Match 190gr ammunition and this is the only ammo that should be shot in this rifle. Here is a picture of the net yet ceramic coated rifle.

Tikka varmint calibers

Thursday, September 6th, 2007

So, I was over visiting the tikka web page (www.tikka.fi) and browsed over to the varmint rifle product page and took a look at the available calibers. Tikka chambers that rifle in 18 different calibers! Unfortunately Beretta USA is the importer and they have deemed that the American Shooter is only interested in 3 of those, the .223, .22-250 and 308. Hum, that doesn’t seem right. Look at the list

  • 204 Ruger
  • 222 Rem
  • 223 Rem
  • 22-250 Rem
  • 243 Win
  • 260 Rem
  • 7 mm-08 Rem
  • 308 Win
  • 270 WSM
  • 300 WSM
  • 25-06 Rem
  • 6.5×55 SE
  • 270 Win
  • 30-06 Sprg
  • 9.3×62
  • 7 mm Rem Mag
  • 300 Win Mag
  • 338 Win Mag

Now I understand the cost of importing and not knowing what the market will bare, etc. But keep in mind, this is a relatively affordable, very accurate, heavy barrel rifle that is available from the factory in great calibers like the .260 Remington, .30-06, 6.5×55 Swedish, 300 Win Mag and others. It would be fantastic if there was even some way to do special orders through some mechanism to be able to order and get one of these rifles, even if it took several months. Heck, the 6.5×55 even has a 1:8″ twist. It is also neat to see the .308 with a 1:11″ twist. It is great to see them buck the trend a bit and offer all these calibers with good thought out twist rates in a production heavy barrel varmint/target rifle. If we could just get Beretta USA to import them all….
